How to Install TikTok Pixel on Shopify
Step 1: Create a TikTok Ads Account
Before you can install the TikTok Pixel, you need to have a TikTok Ads account. If you don’t have one, go to the TikTok Ads website and sign up. Once you’ve created your account and logged in, you’ll be able to access the necessary tools to generate your TikTok Pixel code.
Step 2: Generate Your TikTok Pixel Code
Log In to Your TikTok Ads Manager: After logging into your TikTok Ads account, navigate to the Ads Manager dashboard.
Access Pixel Setup: Go to the ‘Event’ tab on the left-hand menu and select ‘TikTok Pixel.’
Create a New Pixel: Click on ‘Create Pixel.’ You’ll need to name your Pixel and choose the appropriate setup method. For Shopify, select ‘Manually Install Pixel Code.’
- Pixel Name: Choose a name that helps you identify this pixel later.
- Setup Method: Choose ‘Manually Install Pixel Code.’
Copy the Pixel Code: TikTok will generate a Pixel ID and a piece of code. Copy this code, as you will need it in the next steps.
Step 3: Add TikTok Pixel to Your Shopify Store
Log In to Shopify Admin: Access your Shopify admin panel.
Go to Online Store: In the Shopify admin panel, click on ‘Online Store,’ and then select ‘Preferences’ from the dropdown menu.
Find the ‘Facebook Pixel’ Section: Scroll down to the ‘Facebook Pixel’ section. Shopify uses the same input field for various tracking pixels.
Paste Your Pixel Code: In the ‘Facebook Pixel’ field, paste the TikTok Pixel code you copied earlier.
- Note: If there is no specific field for TikTok Pixel, you might need to use Shopify’s ‘Additional Scripts’ section found in the Preferences page. Paste your TikTok Pixel code in the ‘Additional Scripts’ box.
Save Changes: After pasting the code, click ‘Save’ to apply the changes to your Shopify store.
Step 4: Verify the Pixel Installation
- Use the TikTok Pixel Helper Tool: To ensure that the TikTok Pixel is working correctly, install the TikTok Pixel Helper Chrome extension. This tool will help you verify if the Pixel is firing on your website.
- Visit Your Shopify Store: Go to your Shopify store’s front end and interact with it as a visitor would.
- Check Pixel Status: Open the TikTok Pixel Helper tool and check if it detects your Pixel. If the Pixel is working, you should see an indication that it’s successfully installed.
Step 5: Set Up Events and Track Conversions
- Define Events: In your TikTok Ads Manager, you can set up different events that you want to track, such as ‘Page View,’ ‘Add to Cart,’ or ‘Purchase.’
- Configure Event Tracking: Go to the ‘Events’ tab and configure the events that are relevant to your Shopify store. This will help you measure the effectiveness of your TikTok ad campaigns.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Pixel Not Firing: If the TikTok Pixel isn’t firing, ensure you’ve pasted the correct code and saved your changes in Shopify. Check that there are no conflicting scripts on your website.
- Data Delays: Sometimes, it can take up to 24 hours for the data to appear in your TikTok Ads Manager. Be patient and check back later.
- Contact Support: If you continue to experience issues, contact TikTok support for assistance.
By following these steps, you’ll be able to successfully install the TikTok Pixel on your Shopify store and start optimizing your advertising campaigns with valuable data.
